My name is Jon Pienkowski and I am from Vancouver Washington. I already have a few blogs floating around the inter-webs but decided to do something more personal in nature. I have a few blogs about my career and life long obsessions with music, computers, drums, tech, etc. But outside my obvious obsessions, one is growing more and more predominantly important in my life; hiking.
I started hiking a bout 8-9 years just by doing just a hike here and there. But then I caught the "bug" per say. Next thing I know, every weekend I had to go someplace to see something grand and beautiful, or to just go somewhere to challenge and/or test myself. I quickly went from doing just 3-5 mile hikes maybe once or twice a year, to clocking near 100 miles one summer. I was doing great! But some "life" happened, and it pulled me away from my home on the trail.
Well I am finally beginning to get through those darker, harder times and getting back out on the trails again. This time though, my goal is to finally do a through hike. So as I get back into gear with things, my goal is to push my self physically as well as mentally and go steeper and bigger, deal with worse weather and go for the gold!
I am still the heavy metal obsessed tech/nerd that I always have been and always will be. But most of my day-to-day is just that. I wanted a specific outlet solely for my hiking, photography, etc. So those who really are interested can follow! But then I am also not inundating folks who could care less.
So I created this blog!
I will post photos and talk of my experiences hiking, camping and other associated travels, experiences, etc. I also want to be able to share my experience with hiking and travel routes, camping areas, hiking and camping equipment; gear the worked, gear that didn't. Tips and tricks for camping and/or on the trail. FOOD! Overcoming obstacles (physically and mentally) and just anything/everything hiking and the GREAT outdoors.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you decided to follow along!
